“It’s a shame you cant trust these people to do their damn job!” -By Cathy Mitchell, RN-

How many times have you heard, “It’s a shame you can’t trust these people to do their damn jobs?” How many times have you had to say that to yourself for yourself, or about your loved ones when they are hospitalized or in other health care facilities? Have these words ever come out of your mouth, “I wish I didn’t have to put my mom (or dad) in this place! I wish I could of kept them home.” If you have you are not alone. The health care system can be and often is a complex system for health care providers as well as the patient and their family members. People speak in terms you don’t’ understand, you don’t feel that you or your loved one is receiving the attention or time they should be getting, or you or a loved one had an unfortunate event happen while in a nursing home or other health care facility.

The cost of health care is very expensive. YOU are paying a lot for your insurance plan; however, what is covered in that plan has changed and your bills have increased. YOU are paying more for your prescription medications and your physician office visits.
As a registered nurse I have had my own personal experiences within the health care system with various family members. That’s a topic for a separate blog! I know first hand the barriers and the challenges.

Let me ask YOU, are YOU experiencing these challenges or know someone that is? Let’s talk about it! Let’s talk about how to position ourselves to overcome these challenges. The health care system is complex, but we need it and we need to learn how to get what we need from it…..positively. Not from anger, but from honest open communication from the patient, the family, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, all licensed nurses, unlicensed nursing staff, and those at the top.

IT CAN BE DONE! IT MUST BE DONE!

I would love to hear from you!

Thank you!
Cathy
